On January 1st Deadly DVD announces its transformation into the new age of horror. Deadly DVD is now Brutal As Hell, “Horror Without Mercy”. The advent of high definition technology has made the “DVD” moniker outdated. Heavy consideration has been put into how to adapt the site name and brand image to fit the times, as well as provide the opportunity to expand coverage from strictly cinema related content to horror culture at large. “Brutal as Hell both reflects our deep love and affection for horror culture, as well as emphasizes that we can be some tough as nails, cold hearted writers and reviewers.”
Visually, Brutal As Hell maintains the look and feel that readers of Deadly DVD are familiar with. Staff writers and reviewers remain the same, and the majority of the great content you’ve come to appreciate is being ported to the new domain over the next two months. On March 1st 2009 Deadly DVD will officially close its doors forever. From now until then, all senior staff members will be steadily rebuilding the review database, along with providing continued coverage of new DVD, Blu Ray, and Theatrical horror releases. Content of the site remains intently focused on all aspects of the horror genre from exploitation and grindhouse films to the latest in cinematic hack n’ slash.
Deadly DVD and Brutal As Hell are both owned and edited by Marc Patterson and maintain a staff of 8 writers and reviewers. In addition to film reviews Brutal As Hell features the latest in horror industry news, and four original monthly columns.
